Field Investigations
At GeoCore, we know that effective geotechnical design starts with reliable subsurface data. Our field investigations combine advanced drilling equipment, modern in-situ testing, and experienced crews to deliver accurate geotechnical parameters tailored to the unique requirements of each project site.
Specialized Equipment
We operate compact, crawler-mounted multipurpose rigs capable of performing rotary and percussion drilling in locations that cannot be accessed by traditional truck-mounted drills. This allows us to investigate confined or sensitive sites without sacrificing depth or data quality.
Our toolkit also includes advanced testing devices such as the Flat Plate Dilatometer (DMT), which measures soil response under controlled pressure. These readings provide direct insight into soil stiffness, strength, and deformation behavior—supporting practical and innovative design solutions.
Site Investigation Methods
-
Confined Access Drilling – specialized rigs designed for tight, restricted, or low-clearance areas.
-
Conventional Auger Drilling – efficient borehole advancement for soil sampling and logging.
-
Rock Coring – recovery of continuous core samples for strength and quality assessment.
-
Test Pitting – shallow excavations for visual inspection and bulk sampling.
-
Slope Stability Evaluations – assessment of slope geometry, soil conditions, and failure risks.
In-Situ Testing Capabilities
-
Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) – evaluation of soil density and strength.
-
Dynamic Cone Penetration Testing (DCPT) – rapid strength profiling for cohesionless soils.
-
Dilatometer (DMT) Soundings – measurement of soil modulus, compressibility, and lateral stress.
-
Undrained Shear Strength Determinations – direct testing of cohesive soil resistance.
-
Packer Infiltration Testing – assessment of groundwater flow and rock mass permeability.
Deliverables
All investigations include detailed logs, calibrated test results, and clear reporting formatted for design and regulatory compliance. Data is reviewed by senior engineers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and value for design decision-making.
